City of Dubuque 2024 Projects Update

§  The Chaplain Schmitt Island Connector Trail is almost complete. Coming off of the 16th Street Bridge, the trail descends now straight towards the Veterans Memorial Plaza. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was conducted on Friday, October 25. Although some railings still need to be installed, the trail itself is complete, grading is done, and seeding has been comptede. See photos above.

§  The Northwest Arterial Bike Trail from JFK to Central Avenue has some rough spots. Engineers are working to fix the joints and overlay the trail.

§  Nearly $800,000 of pedestrian sidewalk ramp installations occurred over the summer alongside street pavement overlay projects. This is a requirement with the Department of Justice with road improvement projects.

§  The city is starting to design a multi-use trail along Seippel Road between Chavenelle Road and the Southwest Arterial. The trail may also run north from Chavenelle to the Westbrooke Subdivision.
